HAMILTON, HEEMBROCK EARN CACC WEEKLY AWARDS

New Haven, CT (10/6/08) James Hamilton of Dominican College has claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 5. Fellow Charger Brandon Heembrock was named Rookie of the Week.

Hamilton, a 6-2 junior midfielder who hails from Paisley, Scotland, tallied three goals in a 2-0 week for the Chargers, including two in a 4-1 road victory at Caldwell. He also scored a goal in a 4-0 win over Chestnut Hill. The Chargers are now 4-0 in conference play and 8-2 overall.

Heembrock, a 6-2 freshman goalkeeper from Ottawa, Canada, helped lead the Chargers to a 2-0 week by allowing one goal in two games while stopping eight shots. He earned a 4-0 win against Chestnut Hill and allowed one goal with seven saves at Caldwell.

 

 

 

 

Honorable Mention

Triston Sommerville, Bloomfield (Jr., M, Kingston, Jamaica) - Recorded two goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Deacons.

Chad Bennett, Caldwell (Sr., F, Kingston, Jamaica) - Tallied two goals against Goldey-Beacom and one assist vs. Dominican.

Eurica Trowers, Post (Jr., F, 5-9, Bronx, NY) - Scored both of his team's goals in a 2-1 win vs. Felician.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Deacons have won seven of their past eight games since an 0-2 start. Bloomfield's leading goal scorer in 2007 posted six goals on the season. Already in 2008, BC has three players with six or more goals: Triston Sommerville (6), Evans Tageo (6), Dwayne Reid (9). In Saturday's 4-2 win over Holy Family, Sommerville was involved in three of Bloomfield's four goals, scoring twice and adding an assist. In the win over HF, Luis Perez scored his first goal of the season.

Caldwell - The Cougars split a pair of conference games last week, falling to Dominican 4-1 on Tuesday and beating Goldey-Beacom 6-0 on Saturday. Seniors Chad Bennett and Kevoi Walters each scored twice against the Lightning. The performance is the third multi-goal game this season for Bennett, who leads the Cougars with eight goals and two assists for 18 points.

Felician - Felician is scheduled to play its final nine matches of the season in a 19-day stretch, beginning with Thursday's home game against Goldey-Beacom.

Holy Family - Holy Family dropped its only game in the past week on Saturday at Bloomfield, 4-2. Midfielder Ryan McNamee scored both of the Tiger goals. Holy Family has three games this week. The Tigers travel to Bloomsburg on Tuesday and host Wilmington on Thursday and Felician on Saturday.

Philadelphia - The Rams were 2-1 this week, getting wins over Columbia Union and Nyack. The four goals were scored by four different players including John Cloud, Spencer Reiter, Kris Perez and Emmanuel Asangmbeng. The Rams are now an impressive 3-1-1 at their home field.

Post - The Post men have lost only once in their last seven contests (5-1-1), with six of those games coming on the road, including two regionally-ranked opponents and one nationally-ranked club.
