CHARGERS CHARGE PAST POST UNIVERSITY EAGLES IN MEN'S SOCCER
Orangeburg, NY (10/8/08) Junior forward Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England) recorded four goals, including three unanswered goals as the Dominican College men's soccer team charged past the visiting Post University Eagles, 5-2 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer action at Torne Valley Sports Complex.
Orangeburg, NY (10/8/08) Junior forward Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England) recorded four goals, including three unanswered goals as the Dominican College men's soccer team charged past the visiting Post University Eagles, 5-2 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer action at Torne Valley Sports Complex.
The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead on the goal by senior Alex Brito (Waterbury, CT) off the pass by Francis Eno (Powder Springs, GA) at 5:57.
Domincian came back to tie the game at 30:22 when Wright netted his first goal of hte game off the dish by Diego Barahona (Stamford, CT).
Post regained a 2-1 advantage in the 32nd minute of play when Johan Pineda (White Plains, NY) fired off a shot from the 25 yard line which went past the DC keeper.
DC once again knotted the game at 2-2 when freshman John Langdon (Bellport, NY) took a deflected shot by the Eagle keeper and put it over him for the unassisted goal.
Wright tallied his second goal of the game in the 38th minute off the double assist by junior Dan Kelly (Massapequa, NY) and sophomore Chris Wylie (Perth, Australia). He struck again in the 57th minute of the game off the pass by midfielder Edwin Miranda (Stamford, CT) and scored his fourth goal of the game in the 61st minute off the pass by fellow junior James Hamilton (Paisley, Scotland) as Dominican charged on for the 5-2 victory.
The Chargers controlled the offensive end of the game, outshooting the Eagles 20-10.
Post keeper Dan Nadel (Farmington, CT) recorded five saves in the loss, while Dominican keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) had three saves.
With the win Dominican improves to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the CACC, while Post falls to 7-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia University in CACC men's soccer action. Game time is 12pm.
