MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (10/14/08) The Dominican College men's soccer team, currently ranked 22nd in the nation, defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Nyack College, 2-0 this afternoon in CACC men's soccer action at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
Orangeburg, NY (10/14/08) The Dominican College men's soccer team, currently ranked 22nd in the nation, defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Nyack College, 2-0 this afternoon in CACC men's soccer action at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
The Chargers got on the board in the 23rd minute of the game as sophomore Clifton Huxtable (Toronto, Ontario) netted his first goal of the season off the throw in by sophomore Chris Wylie (Perth, Australia).
Dominican added to the lead late in the second half as freshman Alan Heavey (Huntington Station, NY) netted his first collegiate goal after dribbling past two Warrior defenders and blasting a shot past the keeper in the 86th minute of action.
Freshman keeper Curtis Julien (Trinidad and Tobago) had five saves in the net for Nyack in the loss.
DC keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) also had five saves in the win.
The Chargers edged the Warriors 14-9 in shots.
With the win Dominican improves to 10-2-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the CACC, while Nyack falls to 4-10-1 overall and 1-4 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action this weekend when they travel to CACC foe Wilmington University. Game time is slated for 2pm.
