#22 DOMINICAN MEN'S SOCCER EDGE WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
New Castle, DE (10/18/08) In a battle of two of the East Regions top teams, the 22nd ranked Chargers of Dominican College came out on top, defeating the Wildcats of Wilmington University, 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) mens soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.

New Castle, DE (10/18/08) In a battle of two of the East Region's top teams, the 22nd ranked Chargers of Dominican College came out on top, defeating the Wildcats of Wilmington University, 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
The two teams battled to a scoreless first half, but Wilmington controlled the balance of play. Charger goalkeeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) turned away four shots and kept the Wildcats off the board.
Dominican dominated the second half, and scored the game's only goal in the 66th minute, as Clifton Huxtable (Toronto, Canada) converted a cross into the box from Pablo Pozo (Stamford, CT), to give the Chargers the only offense they would need.
Wilmington's freshman goalkeeper Ethan Kavanagh did his best to keep the ‘Cats in the game, recording six saves, including four in the second half. Heembrock picked up the shutout in goal for Dominican, turning away four saves. The two teams had nine shots apiece, but the Chargers held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
With the loss Wilmington dropped to 5-2 in the CACC and 10-4-1 overall, while Dominican improved to 7-0-1 in the conference and 11-2-1 on the season.
The Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Bloomfield College in CACC men's soccer action. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
