Blauvelt, NY (4/19/06) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double header with Pace University this afternoon. Dominican won the opening game 4-0, while Pace took the night cap, 10-8.

Blauvelt, NY (4/19/06) The Dominican College softball team split a non-conference double header with Pace University this afternoon. Dominican won the opening game 4-0, while Pace took the night cap, 10-8.
In the first game, DC took a 1-0 lead in the first as senior Katie Farrugia (Cornwall, NY) hit a one out single and scored on the two out RBI double by freshman Sarah Beck (Milton, NY).
Dominican added to the lead in the fourth as Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ) hit a two run homer, scoring Beck who had doubled to lead off the inning. Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) followed with a walk and game in to score on the RBI single by Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) as the Lady Chargers went on to the 4-0 victory.
Michelle Bark (West Milford, NJ) improved to 8-5 on the year with the win.
In the night cap, the Setters exploded for six runs in the first two innings to take a 6-0 lead off starting pitcher Krupna. The Lady Chargers got three runs back in the bottom of the fourth as Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ) led off the inning with a single and scored on Beck's single. Stathes, who had come in to relieve Krupna, connected on a two run home run as the Chargers pulled with in three, 6-3.
Pace rallied for three runs in the fifth and tacked on another in the sixth to make the score 10-3.
In the bottom of the sixth Stathes hit her second homer of the day to make the score 10-4.
In the DC half of the seventh, the Lady Chargers got the first two runners on after back to back singles by Knuth and Farrugia. Beck scored Knuth on a one out single, followed by two RBI single by Jackie Terpstrata (Middletown, NY). Stathes picked up her fourth RBI of the game with a single to score Terpstra, but the rally would fall short as the next two batters strike out to end the game.
Krupna suffered the loss to drop her record to 8-5 on the year.
