NEW HAVEN, CT - Christine Stathes of Dominican College has earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, April 30. Jessica Saunders of Caldwell College has been named Pitcher of the Week and Bloomfield's Fauna Ryerson and Dominican's Sarah Beck share Rookie of the Week honors.

Stathes, a sophomore from Cornwell, NY, hit .500 (12-for-24) for the week with two home runs, nine RBI, four doubles and five runs scored. She went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI against Holy Family and also hit a home run versus Wilmington in a 2-for-3, three-RBI effort. Stathes has now been named Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks.

Saunders earns Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season. The senior right-hander from Glen Burnie, MD, went 4-1 last week and fanned a total of 53 batters in six appearances. She struck out double-digit batters in four of those outings, including 12 in a shutout of Georgian Court. She hurled 40.1 innings for the week and allowed 34 hits and six runs (1.04 ERA).

Ryerson, a freshman right-hander from West Milford, NJ, went 3-1 for the week and recorded a 1.62 ERA. She hurled shutouts against both Georgian Court and Felician and surrendered only 23 hits in 30.1 innings of work, along with 18 strikeouts. In a double-header against Georgian Court, she combined to throw 13.0 innings and did not allow an earned run.

Beck hit .520 (13-for-25) for the week, hit two home runs, drove in 10 runs and scored six times. She collected three hits in back-to-back games against USP and Holy Family and hit home runs against nationally-ranked C.W. Post and Holy Family. Beck, a freshman catcher from Milton, NY, has been named CACC Player of the week once this season and has been the Rookie of the Week on two occasions.
