Blauvelt, NY (2/5/07) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header with visiting Nyack College this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. Dominican took the first game 8-1, but lost the night cap 11-9.

Blauvelt, NY (2/5/07) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header with visiting Nyack College this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. Dominican took the first game 8-1, but lost the night cap 11-9.
In game one, Dominican held a 2-1 lead until the bottom of the fifth when they exploded for four runs to take a 6-1 lead.
Junior Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY) went 2-3 in the game with two runs and 2 RBIs, including a home run. Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ) went 2-2 with an RBI.
DC starter Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) got the complete game win, allowing three hits and striking out eight batters.
Warrior pitcher Sarah Bolles (Wallingford, CT) suffered the loss.
In the night cap, the Lady Chargers held a 7-1 lead going into the top of the fifth when Nyack scored four runs and added six runs in the sixth to take a 11-7 lead on four hits.
Melanie Susen (Haledon, NJ) went 4-4 in the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Lauren Campbell (Katy, TX) and Lynnae Thompson (Grand Meadow, MN) each had two hits in the win. Laura Briggs (Friendship, ME) had a grand slam in the sixth inning and finished with five RBIs.
For the Lady Chargers, Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) went 3-5, including a home run with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ) also went 3-5, while Sarah Beck (Milton, NY), Lauren Galladay (Aberdeen, NJ) and Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) each had two hits in the loss.
Lauren Jacobs (Hawthorne, NJ) earned the complete game win, allowing 17 hits and striking out six batters.
Reliever Stathes got the loss in 1 2/3 innings, allowing five runs.
With the split, Dominican improves to 13-9 overall and 5-3 in the CACC, while Nyack improves to 5-14 overall and 2-6 in the CACC.
