CALDWELL COLLEGE SNAPS LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL WINNING STREAK
Orangeburg, NY (4/1/09) The Caldwell College Cougars snapped the ten game winning streak of the visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers after a 5-0 victory this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball action.
Caldwell generated all the offense it would need in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by senior Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, NJ). The Cougars added to the lead in the fifth as sophomore Annie Forte (Toms River, NJ) hit a bases-loaded RBI single. Kyrie Timbrook (Los Gatos, CA) followed with a two-run single for a 5-0 lead. Timbrook and Capardi drove in two runs apiece, while freshman Katie Margiotta (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had two hits. Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA) scattered six hits while striking out one and walking none over seven innings to improve to 4-0.
Junior Danielle Garrison (Coatsville, PA) took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits in six innings of work to fall to 7-2 overall.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to darkness and will be re-played in its entirety on April 6th.
With the win Caldwell improves to 12-7 overall and 9-0 in the CACC. Dominican falls to 17-7 overall and 7-2 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action this weekend at the 2nd Annual "Going to Bat for Breast Cancer" hosted by Georgian Court University this Saturday and Sunday.
