LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL RANKED IN NCAA REGION POLL
Orangeburg, NY (4/1/09) The Dominican College softball team is ranked eight in the East Region according to the April 1 NCAA Division II East Region Softball poll.
Orangeburg, NY (4/1/09) The Dominican College softball team is ranked eight in the East Region according to the April 1 NCAA Division II East Region Softball poll. Fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) members Georgian Court University and Bloomfield College are also ranked in the region.
Dominican is ranked eighth in the poll and is one of the hottest teams in the region, having won 10 out of their 11 last games. The Lady Chargers are 17-6 overall and 7-1 in CACC contests. Dominican freshman Deidre Jeppson was named the CACC Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday after leading the team to an 8-0 performance last week.
Georgian Court, which is also ranked 16th according to this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 poll, currently sports an overall record of 17-7 along with a 5-1 mark in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Lions have won five consecutive games and seven of their last eight.
Bloomfield, which has never been ranked in the region before this season, is seventh in the poll with a 16-5 record and a 7-1 mark in the CACC. Like GCU, the Deacons have won seven of their last eight games and split a double-header at Georgian Court on Tuesday. BC won the opener, 1-0, followed by an 11-3 Georgian Court victory in the second game.
