Orangeburg, NY (4/8/09) The Adelphi University softball team swept a non-conference double-header from the visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers this afternoon at Janet L. Ficke Field. The Panthers rallied to win game one, 5-4 and took the night cap, which was called due to darkness in the sixth inning, 7-3.

The Panthers rallied to win game one, 5-4 and took the night cap, which was called due to darkness in the sixth inning, 7-3.
DC got on the board with a run in the first inning on a RBI double up the middle by junior shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ). The Lady Chargers added two runs in the second on RBI singles by freshmen Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) and Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ) to build up the lead to 3-0. An RBI double to right field by senior Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ) in the third inning put Dominican up 4-0.
AU came back with three runs in the fourth on a two run home run and an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3. The Panthers added a run in the sixth to tie the game and scored the game-winning run on an RBI walk for the 5-4 victory.
Freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) took the complete game loss to fall to 8-5 on the year, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits.
In game two, AU put six runs on the board in the first inning on two hits to take a 6-0 lead. Dominican scored three runs in the third on a three run blast by senior left fielder Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) to cut the lead to 6-3. The Panthers scored another run in the bottom of the third for the eventual 7-3 victory.
Laurie Edwards (Riverhead, NY) suffered the loss to fall to 4-4 on the year.
