LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL RANKED IN NCAA EAST REGION POLL

Orangeburg, NY (4/22/09) The Dominican College softball team has been ranked eighth in the East Region Poll by the NCAA which was released this afternoon.

Orangeburg, NY (4/22/09)  The Dominican College softball team has been ranked eighth in the East Region Poll by the NCAA which was released this afternoon.

Dominican is currently 29-12 overall after a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over Felician College yesterday.  The team is on a 10 game winning streak and have won 24 out of their last 30 games.  Senior Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) and freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) were named the CACC Player and Rookie of the Week yesterday after guiding the team to an 8-0 week.

Last week Dominican swept regionally ranked Georgian Court University (7-0, 3-0) and Bloomfield College (7-0, 14-0) and owns a non-conference victory over#6 Southern Connecticut State and a double-header sweep over #7 NYIT earlier this season.

Fellow CACC members Georgian Court University and Bloomfield College also appear in this week's rankings.  Georgian Court University is ranked #5 and Bloomfield College is ranked #9.
