SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (3/28/10) The Dominican College softball team improved to 12-8 overall and 5-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after sweeping a double-header from the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University this afternoon at the DC Softball Field.

The Lady Chargers scored game one's first run in the first inning off an RBI single by sophomore Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA). A two-run Ram fourth inning game them a 2-1 advantage, but DC quickly answered back in the bottom stanza on a Julie Plante (Swansea, MA) double which scored two runs to regain a 3-2 lead.
Dominican tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth on the RBI single by Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) and the two-run single by first basemen Lauren Galladay (Aberdeen, NJ) for the final 6-2 victory.
Right handed pitcher Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) got the complete game win (6-4), allowing two runs on four hits.
In game two, DC quickly put three runs on the board in the first inning as Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, NJ) and Jeppson each had an RBI single and Corrao reached base on a fielder's choice that brought in a run.
Dominican scored two more runs in the third to extend their lead to 5-0 on the RBI single by senior Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) and run came in to score on a Philadelphia fielding error.
The Rams scored their first run in the fourth, but DC put two more runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning on the RBI singles by Scarillo and Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ). In the bottom of the sixth with two outs, Corrao hit and RBI double and Garrison followed with an RBI single to put the Lady Chargers up 9-1 and end the game.
Freshman Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) got the win (6-4), allowing just one run on one hit and striking out nine batters.
