CHILDERS NAMED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Orangeburg, NY (3/9/10) Dominican College softball player, Delaney Childers, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 7th as was announced by the CACC office yesterday.

Orangeburg, NY (3/9/10)  Dominican College softball player, Delaney Childers, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 7th as was announced by the CACC office yesterday.

Childers, a freshman outfielder and pitcher from Johnstown, OH, batted .429 in a 6-6 for the Lady Chargers.  She produced 18 hits in 42 at-bats with three doubles and two triples.  She scored 13 runs while tallying 11 RBIs for a .595 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base percentage.

On the mound she finished the week with a 3-4 record.  In 39 innings pitched she recorded 28 strikeouts while allowing 26 runs (12 earned) on 37 hits for a 2.15 ERA.  She recorded her first collegiate shut out in a 4-0 non-conference victory over Concordia College and got her first collegiate win in a complete game extra inning 5-2 victory over Florida Southern College.
