Georgian Court University Edges Dominican, 3-2

Blauvelt, NY (10/12/05) Georgian Court University (10-8, 9-5 CACC) edged the Dominican College (6-11, 5-9), 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference volleyball action this evening at the Hennessy Center

The match went back and forth as Dominican took the first game while Georgian Court rebounded to take the next two. Down 2-1, the Lady Chargers came on strong to take the fourth game 30-22. In the decisive game, Dominican had a 12-10 lead, but couldn’t hang on as the Lions won 18-16.

For the Lions, freshman Claudimary Rivera (Carolina, Puerto Rico) had a double double, leading all attackers with 17 kills and 26 defensive digs. Billeny Rivera (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) and Alicia Scott (Pt. Pleasant Boro, NJ) added 12 kills a piece in the win. Heather Walker (Hanover, Ontario) had 51 assists for the Lions.

For Dominican, freshman Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) posted a double double, with a team leading 15 kills and 25 defensive digs. Senior setter Megan Earl (Greenville, NY) had 40 assists and five kills, while freshman Ashley Simpson

(Spring Valley, NY) had five kills, respectively.

Dominican will be in action again on Saturday, October 15 as they travel to CACC rival Nyack College for a tri-match.
