Bridgeport Volleyball Downs Dominican, 3-0

The University of Bridgeport women’s volleyball team improves to 6-5 overall with a straight games victory over Dominican College Friday night in Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium, winning 31-29, 30-24, 30-25.

Bridgeport, CT (9/8/06)  The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team improves to 6-5 overall with a straight games victory over Dominican College Friday night in Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium, winning 31-29, 30-24, 30-25.

The Purple Knights dominated every offensive statistical category with a total of 54 kills (.232 hitting percentage) on the evening to the Chargers 31 kills as well as 49 assists to 29.

Senior co-captain Jessica Bornack (Roselle, IL) led the assault with a match-high 14 kills and an impressive .464 hitting percentage, while teammates Olga Sidorova (Ekaterinburg, Russia) and Jessica Heidenreich (Ritzville, WA) both chipped in with 10 blasts apiece. Junior setter Maryanne Stafford (Auburn, CA) had a match-high 40 assists coupled with six kills and five digs. Junior Ashley DiGeorge (Canastota, NY) served up three aces to go along with 10 digs on the night.

Dominican, who played from behind all match was led by Kinikia Collier's (Garnerville, NY) 13 kills and 14 digs.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Post University for a 7pm match.
