Nyack, NY (9/20/06) The Nyack College women's volleyball team rallied down 2-1 to defeat the Dominican College Lady Chargers 3-2 this evening at Bowman Gym.
Game one was a hard fought battle where the Lady Chargers came away with the 34-32 victory. The Warriors bounced back to win the second game 30-23, but Dominican took the third game 30-28. Nyack rallied in the fourth game to win 30-25 and won the deciding fifth game 15-7 to win the match 3-2.
DC was led by sophomore Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) who recorded her first double-double of the season with 18 kills and 20 digs. Senior Jessica Zanotti (Garfield, NJ) added 10 kills and three solo blocks, while sophomore Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River, NY) had seven kills in the loss. Setter Katilin Earl (Greenville, NY) added 33 assists and Antoinette Hackett (Pearl River, NY) led the team with 21 digs.
NC had three players reach double figures in kills, led by Wendy Paige with 20 kills. Megan Metcalf added 16 kills and Lacey McCabe added 10 kills in the win. Tara Leegwater had 50 assists while Colleen Weidman had 29 digs.
With the in the Warriors improve to 3-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), while the Lady Chargers fall to 1-4 in the CACC and 1-10 overall.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Wilmington College in a CACC match scheduled for 1pm at the Hennessy Center.
