Blauvelt, NY (9/13/08) The Dominican College Lady Chargers lost a 3-1 (21-25, 18-25, 29-27, 26-28) match to the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) womens volleyball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

Blauvelt, NY (9/13/08) The Dominican College Lady Chargers lost a 3-1 (21-25, 18-25, 29-27, 26-28) match to the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's volleyball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
With the win the Lightning improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the CACC, while the Lady Chargers fall to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.
Chantal Pierre (Newark, DE) led the Lightning with 12 kills and three solo blocks on the afternoon. Junior Chalea Johnson (Woodbridge, NJ) added 11 kills, while freshman setter Roni Shaner (Elkton, MD) led the team with 27 assists.
Senior Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) led the Lady Chargers with a season high 16 kills. Outside hitter Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River, NY) had eight kills, while setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY) led the team with 30 assists.
Down 2-0 in the third set, the Lady Chargers rallied from 21-23 deficit to knot the set at 23-23, capitalizing on attack errors by GBC. Each team then went back and forth with the lead, but the Lady Chargers were able to secure a 29-27 win and force the match into the fourth game.
DC rallied down 22-24 late in the fourth set as Hanneman had a kill and Collier followed with an ace to tie the game at 24-24. GBC had an 25-24 lead when back to back service errors once again put the Lightning one point away from the match victory at 26-25. A set error allowed DC to tie the game at 26-26, but consecutive attack errors by the Lady Chargers allowed GBC to go on to the 28-26 set win and the 3-1 match victory.
Dominican is back in action on Monday as they host Southern Connecticut State University in a non-conference match on Coach Baxter Court. Game time is set for 7pm. Goldey-Beacom College is also back in action on Monday when they travel to Bowie State University for a 6pm match.
