GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY DEFEATS LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL
Orangeburg, NY (9/27/08) The Georgian Court University volleyball team improved to 12-4 overall and 4-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating host Dominican College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) this afternoon.

GCU jumped out to a 17-12 lead in the first and held a commanding 19-9 lead in set two en route to taking a 2-0 lead. In the third set tied at 8-8, GCU went on a 7-2 run that put them in the driver's seat to a 25-16 set win and match victory.
Janelle Murdock (Manahawkin, NJ) and Lissette Zayas (Naranjito, PR) led the Lions with eight kills a piece in the win, while senior outside hitter Angie Casado (Brick, NJ) and Stephanie Rivera (Toa Alta, PR) each added six kills. Setter Lisamary Firueroa (Toa Alta, PR) tallied 31 assists on the day.
Senior outside hitter Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) led the Lady Chargers with five kills and setter Lauren Palermo (Ottisville, NY) had seven assists. Senior Ashley Simpson (Spring Valley, NY) led the team with two blocks.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday night when they host CACC rival, Nyack College, at 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
