DOMINICAN VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY

New Haven, CT (10/2/08)  The Dominican College volleyball team dropped a non-conference match this evening to host Southern Connecticut State University, 3-0 (14-25, 23-25, 16-25).

The Owls led most of the first set and won 25-14. Dominican rallied in the second set and led most of the way until SCSU made a late game rally and score the last six out of seven points for the two point win (25-23). In the third set, the Owls took an early 8-2 lead and never looked back, sweeping Dominican for the second time this season.

Senior outside hitter Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) led the Lady Chargers with eight kills on the evening.  Sophomores Kerianne Dudley (Nanuet, NY) and Akirrah Cooper (Bronx, NY) each added six kills a piece, while setter Lauren Palermo (Ottisville, NY) had 16 assists in the loss.

Alliana Lannigan led the Owls with 11 kills, while Meg Lyons and Leah Filonuk each had 10 kills in the win.

With the win the Owls improve to 18-4 overall, while the Lady Chargers fall to 0-15 on the season.

Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.  Game time is slated for 12pm.
