LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL RALLY TO DEFEAT FELICIAN COLLEGE

Rutherford, NJ (11/4/08)  The Dominican College Lady Chargers volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat host Felician College, 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 16-14) this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

Trailing 12-9 in the first set, DC went on a 7-2 run to take a 16-14 advantage.  Felician answered back with an overpowering 11-2 run for a 25-18 first set win.  The Lady Chargers never trailed in the second set en route to a 25-22 win to even the match at 1-1. 

In the third set, the Lady Chargers jumped out to a 6-2 lead and led 15-12 when the Golden Falcons bounced back with a 13-6 run for the 25-21 set win.  The fourth set saw Dominican trailing 4-1 when put together an 11-3 run to take a 12-7 lead and never looked back as they went on to the 25-19 fourth set win.  In the fifth and deciding set, Felician jumped out to a 6-1 lead and led 10-6 when the Lady Chargers fought back to tie the set at 13-13.  Tied 14-14, DC scored the last two points on an attack error by FC and a kill by Ashley Simpson to close out the fifth set 16-14 and 3-2 match victory.

Senior outside hitter Kinikia Collier (Garverville, NY) led all attackers with a career high 23 kills and 25 digs.  Fellow senior Simpson (Spring Valley, NY) added 10 kills, while libero Catherine Giordano (Stony Point, NY) had 24 digs.  Senior setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY) had a career high 39 assists in the win.

The Golden Falcons were led by Amber Doran with 19 kills, while C.C. Cousins added 15 kills.  Cristina Garcia had a team leading 23 digs, while Megan DeLamater had a match leading 40 assists in the loss.

With the victory, the Lady Chargers improve to 2-24 overall and 2-14 in the CACC, while Felician falls to 2-27 overall and 2-13 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Post University in a CACC match scheduled for 7pm in Waterbury, CT.
