Lady Chargers Beat Lady Lightning, 87-73

Wilmington, DE (1/17/06) The Dominican College women's basketball team defeated the Goldey-Beacom College Lady Lightning, 87-73 this evening in CACC women's hoops action.

The Lady Chargers had three players finish in double figures, led by junior point guard Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) who had 18 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals. Sophomore Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) netted 15 points, six assists and a steal, while senior shooter Jill Younghans (Succasunna, NJ) added 13 points. Freshman Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) gave a solid effort off the bench, scoring nine points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win.

The Lady Lightning had four players in double figures, highlighted by a double-double by Kim Rowley with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Toni Jones netted 18 points, while April Yanacek added 12 points in the loss. Michelle Azzanesi contributed 11 points, respectively.

DC out rebounded GBC, 34-24 and out shot the Lady Lightning, 51.8% to 45.6%.

With the win, DC improves to 9-6 overall and 7-3 in CACC play.

The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Thursday, January 19th when they host Bloomfield College in a CACC match up. Tip-off is 6pm at the Hennessy Center.
