Dominican Lady Chargers Roll Past Post University, 89-77

Blauvelt, NY (1/24/06) The Lady Chargers of Dominican College (12-6, 10-3 CACC) defeated the Eagles of Post University squad, 89-77 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game played at the Hennessy Center.

The Eagles suited only suited eight players.

For the first time in several games, the Eagles did not fall behind by double digits in the opening minutes. The game was tied twice, but the Chargers never trailed in the first half. With Dominican leading by one, 17-16, with just under 11 minutes to go the Chargers rolled a 15-6 run on the board to lead 32-22. The Eagles would respond with a 9-0 run of their own before Dominican College scored the next seven to lead 39-31. The Eagles' Jen Rose (New City, NY) converted a three as time expire to make the halftime score 39-34.

Post (8-8, 7-6 CACC) again was on a cold streak in the opening stages of the latter half as a 12-5 spurt put Dominican College in control 51-42 before Post took over. The Eagles scored 15 of the game's next 17 points to take what would prove to be their lone lead of the night at 57-53. Dominican went on a 7-0 run to lead 60-57 before a Marjorie Prado (Manhattan, NY) three led to a 60-60 tie. The Chargers would dominate from there with a steady run to close out what was a game of runs.

Prado led the Eagles with a game-high 31 points to go along with eight rebounds. Tadj Williams (Albany, NY) added 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for the visitors who committed 28 turnovers. Natasha Box (Brooklyn, NY) had six points, four rebounds, four steals, and four assists.

For Dominican College, Jill Younghans (Succasunna, NJ) paced five Lady Chargers in double figures. She had 21 points. Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) added 20 points and five caroms. Jackie Tracy (Bronx, NY) contributed 15 points and eight assists. Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, NY) and Danielle Armiento (Pelham, NY) added 11 points each.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday, January 28th as they host the University of the Sciences in the fifth annual Sue Heller Game at the Hennessy Center. Game time is 1pm.
