Bloomfield Lady Deacons Defeat Dominican Lady Chargers, 80-46

Bloomfield, NJ (2/9/06) The Lady Deacons of Bloomfield College defeated the Lady Chargers of Dominican College, 80-46 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

Bloomfield took control of the game early, starting the game off with a 7-0 run. Dominican battled back to pull within one, 7-6 with just under fifteen minutes remaining in the half. BC then exploded for a 24-4 run to make the score 31-10 with 7:43 left. The Lady Deacons didn't stop their as they extended their lead to twenty six at the half, 45-19.

The Lady Deacons shot 43.6% from the floor in the first half, while the Lady Chargers shot a dismal 24.2% (0-6 from the three point line).

The second half saw Bloomfield continue to dominate as they led by as many as thirty six points with six minutes remaining in the game. BC finished the game shooting 43.6% from the floor to DC's 27.5%. The Lady Chargers had 21 turnovers to the Lady Deacons 16.

Dominican had only one player in double figures as senior Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, NY) netted 10 points and seven rebounds. Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) scored eight points, while freshman Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) had seven points and seven rebounds off the bench. Jackie Tracey had five points, seven rebounds and four assists in the loss.

Bloomfield had three players reach double figures, as DeAnjole Felton and Dominica Raymond netted 18 points a piece, shooting a combined 6-12 from the three point line. Felton added nine rebounds, while Raymond had seven rebounds and seven assists, respectively. Ciera Darby scored 12 points in the win.

With the win, the Lady Deacons improve to 14-7 overall and 12-6 in the CACC, while the Lady Chargers fall to 14-10 overall and 12-7 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Tuesday, February 14th when they travel to Georgian Court University for a 7pm game.
