Dominican College Lady Chargers Turn Back Wilmington College, 74-45
Blauvelt, NY (2/25/06) The Dominican College women’s basketball team defeated the Wilmington College Lady Wildcats, 74-45 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s hoops action at the Hennessy Center.

The Dominican College
women’s basketball team defeated the Wilmington College Lady
Wildcats, 74-45 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) women’s hoops action at the Hennessy
Center.
Dominican jumped out to an early 13-2 lead with 12:37 remaining after senior Jill Younghans (Roxbury, NJ) hit her first three pointer of the game. The lead would extend to as many as 23 points in the first half, but Wilmington would cut the lead to 19 points with 0:39 seconds remaining off a jumper by Nordia Henry (Philadelphia, PA). The Chargers rebounded out at the buzzer with a shot by senior Danielle Dugan (Bayonne, NJ) to make the score 33-12 at the half.
The second half mirrored the first as Dominican dominated the game, leading by at least twenty points for much of the half. Wilmington cut it to 19 points with 7:41 left in the game on a three point basket by Jamie Gallagher (Morton, PA). That would be as close as the Wildcats would get as the Lady Chargers struck back for the final 74-45 score.
The Lady Wildcats had three players in double figures, led by Barbara Fleming (Philadelphia, PA) with 15 points. Gallagher finished with 14 points and three assists, while Henry finished with 13 points, six rebounds and one block.
The Lady Chargers also had three players in double figures, led

assists. Senior Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake,
NY) added 11 points and three blocks. Junior
Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) netted 10 points
and a game leading six assists in the win.
With the win, Dominican improves to 18-11 overall and 16-8 in the
CACC, while Wilmington falls to 5-21 overall and 4-19 in the CACC.
Before the game, Dominican College honored seniors Danielle Armiento, Danielle Dugan, Ashley Rossi and Jill Younghans.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Wednesday March, 1 when they host the first round of the CACC Women’s Basketball Tournament. Game time is 7:30pm at the Hennessy Center.
