#4 Dominican College Lady Chargers Defeat #5 Post University Eagles, 75-68
Blauvelt, NY (3/1/06) The Dominican College women’s basketball team defeated the Post University Eagles, 75-68 this evening in a quarter-final match up of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Hennessy Center.

Blauvelt, NY (3/1/06) The Dominican College women’s basketball team defeated the Post University Eagles, 75-68 this evening in a quarter-final match up of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Hennessy Center.
Post jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, going on a 8-0 run,
capped off by a three point play by junior Tadj Williams
(Albany, NY). Dominican fought back to tie the
score at 10-10 as senior Danielle Dugan (Bayonne,
NJ) sunk a three point basket with 15:34 remaining.
From there the Lady Chargers took control, leading by as may as 14
points, going into the half up 44-30.
Both teams were even from the floor with the edge going to Post,
41.2% to DC’s 41.0%. DC had the edge from the free
throw line, shooting 70.8% to Post’s 70.0%.
In the second half, Post battled back from a sixteen point deficit to pull within three with 2:15 remaining as Jennifer Rose (New City, NY) buried a big three point basket to make the score 61-58. The Lady Chargers built the lead back up to ten as Dugan hit two free throws with 0:20 seconds left to give the team a 74-64 lead, en route to the 75-68 victory.
The Eagles were led by Williams with the game’s only double-double, netting a game leading 22 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Stephanie Goss (Manchester, CT) chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds, while Rose added 11 points also. Guard Marjorie Prado (New York, NY) gave a solid effort with eight points, six rebounds and four assists in the loss.
The Lady Chargers had four players in double figures, led by
sophomore Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) with 19
points. Senior Danielle Armiento (Pelham,
NY) (pictured)exploded for 18 points, four rebounds and
four assists off the bench in the win. Dugan
finished with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Senior Jill Younghans (Succasunna, NJ) netted 10
points and two steals. Junior Jackie Tracey (Bronx,
NY) added five points and a game leading six assists,
breaking the single season assist record at Dominican,
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Friday, March, 3 when they play the top seeded Tigers from Holy Family University. Game time is 2:30pm at the Bobby Morgan Arena on the campus of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
