4 Dominican College Lady Chargers Season Ends with a 64-53 loss to #1 Holy Family University Tigers
Philadelphia, PA (3/3/06) The top seeded Holy Family University Tigers advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Final with a 64-53 victory over the fourth seeded Dominican College Lady Chargers this afternoon in Philadelphia.
Dominican took an eight point lead early in the second half, 40-32 as senior Jill Younghans (Succasunna, NJ) connected on one of two free throws. However Holy Family battled back to tie the game, 50-50, after CACC Rookie of the Year Melissa Brooks (Levittown, PA) buried a jumper with 6:18 left in the game. The Tigers took the lead after sophomore Kelly Killion (Pennsauken, NJ) hit a jumper with 4:44 left, starting a 14-3 run.
Dominican had a tough time scoring in the final eight minutes of the game as Holy Family University went on a 23-8 run in the comeback.
The Lady Chargers had three players in double figures, led by senior Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, NY) with 18 points and seven rebounds. Younghans finished the game with 13 points, shooting 2-4 from the three point line. Junior Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) netted 12 points, four assists and two steals in the loss.
The Tigers were led by Killion with a career high 30 points, shooting 6-10 from the three point line. Senior Megan Bauer (Norwood, PA) scored 14 points, nine rebounds and had four blocks in the win.
DC ends their season with a 19-12 record, while Holy Family University wins their 28th straight victory to improve to 28-1 on the year. They will face the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in the finals tomorrow at 4:30 pm.
