Dominican Lady Chargers Selected As Second Seed in ECAC Tournament
CAPE COD, Massachusetts (March 6, 2006) Philadelphia University has been selected the top seed in the 2006 ECAC Division II Women's Basketball Championship. Philadelphia enters the tournament with an overall record of 22-6 and a second place finish in the CACC. The tournament is a three-team field with semifinal and championship rounds. The teams selected are members of the CACC and the Northeast-10.
The 2006 ECAC Division II Men's Championship has been cancelled this year, due to teams being selected into the NCAA Tournament. The ECAC Division II Men's Championship will resume next year.
"THE ROCK," the official ball of the 2006 ECAC Basketball Championships, will be used during all rounds of competition. Anaconda Sports, the home of "THE ROCK," will honor the tournament champion with an autograph ball and participant t-shirts.
In the semifinal round on Friday, March 10, No. 2 Dominican (19-12) will host No. 3 Franklin Pierce (14-14), at Dominican College at 5:30 p.m.
The winner of the first game will face Philadelphia University for the Championship game at Holy Family, on Saturday March 4 at 5:30 p.m.
