Lady Chargers Hang On To Defeat Nyack, 66-56

Nyack, NY (12/6/05) The Lady Chargers used a late second half surge to put away Nyack in a 66-56 win tonight in CACC women's basketball. The win improves Dominican's record to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the CACC. Nyack falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.

The first half saw both teams go back and forth as the score ended up tied at 26 going into halftime. In the second half Nyack led by as many as six early on, but could not hold on as Dominican took the lead for good at the 7:34 mark on a jumper by Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, NY) to make it

50-49.

Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) led five players in double figures for Dominican with 16 points. Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Rossi had the game's only double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds), plus five blocks and two steals. Freshmen Gina Pollitt (Nutley, NJ) and Jill Degnan (Whitestone, NY) contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Tamyra Lathon led Nyack with 15 points and 4 assists. Deb Roberson contributed 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists on the night.

Dominican shot 42.6% from teh floor to Nyack's 34.4%. The Lady Warriors out rebounded the Lady Chargers 47-40, but had 18 turnovers to DC's 8.

DC is back in action on Thursday as they host Felician College at 6pm in the Hennessy Center.
