Meg Abele Registers 31 Points in Women's Basketball Win over Dominican
Philadelphia, PA (1/13/07) Senior forward Meg Abele poured in 31 points, connecting on 11 of 17 field goal attempts, as the Philadelphia University women's basketball team picked up a 77-65 win over Dominican College on Saturday, January 13th, at home. The victory improves the Lady Rams to 9-4 overall and 8-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), while the Lady Chargers fall to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in league play.

the Philadelphia University women's basketball team picked up a
77-65 win over Dominican College on Saturday, January
13th, at home. The victory improves the Lady Rams to 9-4
overall and 8-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC), while the Lady Chargers fall to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in
league play.
The Lady Rams got out to an early 11-2 lead, eventually settling
for a 37-24 margin after one half of play. Through the first
20 minutes, Abele had scored 20 points including a pair of
three-pointers. Philadelphia University stretched its lead to
60-43 with eight minutes remaining, but Dominican closed the gap to
six points, 67-61, with just over three minutes remaining.
The Lady Rams, however, converted their free throws down the
stretch to preserve the victory.
In addition to Abele, the Lady Rams also got a double-double from senior center Alisha Ferguson, who finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds while freshman center Jessica Romano came off the bench to score 13 points as well. Dominican was led by junior guard Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) and freshman forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) with 12 points apiece.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Georgian Court University in CACC women's action. Game time is 7pm.
