Dominican Wins 8th Straight in Battle Over Nyack College
Nyack, NY (2/7/07) Dominican College defeated Nyack College this evening 72-58 in CACC women's basketball action. The win improves Dominican to 16-6 overall and 12-5 in the CACC. They also have and 8-game win streak going which currently is the longest in the region. With the loss Nyack drops to 7-13 overall and 5-12 in the CACC.

Nyack, NY (2/7/07) Dominican College
defeated Nyack College this evening 72-58 in CACC women's
basketball action. The win improves Dominican to 16-6 overall
and 12-5 in the CACC. They also have and 8-game win streak going
which currently is the longest in the region. With the loss
Nyack drops to 7-13 overall and 5-12 in the CACC.
Nyack got the lead early and the score went back and forth before
Dominican gained the lead, 10-9 with 14:49 to play. Dominican
then went on a 17-5 run to extend the lead to 13 points, 27-14 with
8:02 to play. Nyack then came back and chipped away closing
the half on a 20-11 run to pull within four, 38-34.
The two teams came out in the second half and traded baskets.
The score stayed close until Dominican extended the lead to
ten, 53-43 with 10:55 to go. Nyack battled back and cut it to
seven, but Dominican pushed it back up to 10 again. Nyack was
forced to foul down the stretch and the Chargers knocked down the
free throw to seal the game.
Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led Dominican
with 29 points on 11-15 shooting from the field. Jackie
Tracey-Spitaleri (Bronx, NY) added 16 points 8
rebounds and 4 assists while Dana Rotio (Garfield,
NJ) chipped in with 10 points.
Tamyra Lathon led Nyack with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Christy Porter added 9 points for the Warriors.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Game time is 1pm on Coach Baxter Court.
