DOMINICAN'S LASKOWSKI NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
New Haven, CT (1/12/09) Dominican College junior Adele Laskowski has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, January 11. Vanessa Lamison of Bloomfield College was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
New Haven, CT (1/12/09) Dominican College junior Adele Laskowski has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, January 11. Vanessa Lamison of Bloomfield College was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Laskowski, a 5-9 junior guard from Wayne, NJ, posted averages of 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per-game in two contests last week. She shot 51.2-percent (21-for-41) from the field and made half of her shots from beyond the arc (8-of-16). She poured in 32 points against Goldey-Beacom and scored her 1,000th career point in the game. She added six rebounds and five assists against the Lightning. She also netted 22 points, four assists and three rebounds against the University of New Haven.
Lamison, a 5-5 freshman guard from Laurel, MD, averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 steals per-game in a 1-1 week for the Deacons. She shot 48.0-percent (12-for-25) from the field for the week. She recorded 21 points, six rebounds and eight steals in a win at Caldwell.

Erin Chesnavich, USP (Jr., C, 6-1, Pittston, NJ) - Averaged 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 week for the Devils.
Amelia Simmons, Wilmington (Jr., F, 5-11, Wilmington, DE) - Averaged 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 50-percent from the field in a 2-0 week.
Mackenzie Lynch, Caldwell (Sr., F, 5-11, Wayne, NJ) - Notched 22 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Bloomfield.
Catherine Carr, Holy Family (So., F, 6-0, Bernardsville, NJ) - Led Holy Family to a 3-0 week with 12.3 points, 3.3 assists and 2.0 rebounds per-game.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - In Thursday's overtime win over Caldwell College,
Vanessa Lamison recorded career highs in points (21), and steals
(8). Lamison averaged 14.5 points per-game in the Lady Deacons' 1-1
week. Robyn Burton also averaged 13.0 points per-contest and dished
out seven assists in two games.
Caldwell - The Cougars lost their only game of the week, an 80-76
overtime thriller with Bloomfield on Jan. 8. Sophomore guard Kirsty
Leedham tied the game with a three-pointer with five seconds left
in regulation to send the game to overtime. Senior forward
Mackenzie Lynch registered 22 points and 12 rebounds for her ninth
double-double in 13 games this season. The offensive output left
Lynch with 998 points in her career. Caldwell's game with
Philadelphia, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, was postponed due to
inclement weather. A make-up date has yet to be determined.
Georgian Court - Georgian Court trounced the visiting Bears of NYIT on January 6, 77-41, giving the Lions their first three-game winning streak since November, 2007. Georgian Court last won three in a row when they defeated Columbia Union College (69-59, 11/18/07), Bloomsburg University (51-47, 11/20/07) and Queens College (77-66, 11/26/07).
Holy Family - Holy Family allowed 29.3 points per game in a 3-0
week. They opened the week by defeating host Chestnut Hill, 76-25.
Holy Family held the Griffins to five points in the first half, a
school record for fewest points in a half allowed. Guard Nya Daley
was the offensive leader with 14 points. Holy Family returned home
on Thursday to pick up a 66-42 win over Georgian Court. Forward
Melissa Brooks hit 10 of 12 shots to end up with 20 points. On
Saturday, Holy Family allowed a record-low 21 points in a 65-21 win
over Nyack. Forward Catherine Carr paced the offense with 21 points
on 10 of 20 shooting. Holy Family is riding a six-game winning
streak and has won 52 straight games against CACC competition.
Brooks is just 52 points away from reaching 1,000. Head coach Mike
McLaughlin is seven wins away from 400. The Tigers visit
Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday, January 13 in their only game of the
week.
Philadelphia - The Lady Rams have won their last two CACC games,
including a 68-61 victory at the USP. Junior Jess Romano led all
scorers with 16 points, and both Kate and Amanda Brennan knocked
down two three-pointers to give the team a 57% three-point line on
the night. PhilaU also shot 78% from the FT line vs. the Devils.
The squad will face Chestnut Hill at home this week (1/14) in a 6
p.m. doubleheader that will be followed by the men's matchup.
USP - With Saturday's win at Bloomfield, the Devils have now won five of their last six games played on Bloomfield's home court. Junior Erin Chesnavich (Pittston, Pa.) recorded her 4th and 5th double-doubles of the season this week, the second time in 08-09 that she has produced back to back double-doubles. With her 22 points vs. Bloomfield, Chesnavich moved into 14th place on the Devils all-time scoring list with 880 career points. Teammate Allison Weiss (Springfield, Pa.) is 13th on the list with 954. Weiss also moved into a tie for fifth place on the Devils all-time free throw list making her 274th career free throw against Bloomfield. Chesnavich has been the Devils' leading or co-leading scorer in each of their last ten games and USP's leading rebounder in eight of their last nine.
