Holy Family is the unanimous pick to claim the South Division title, a year after going 18-0 in conference play and a 32-1 overall. The squad's only loss was to Franklin Pierce University in the championship game of the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Tournament. After being unranked to start the year, Holy Family finished ninth in the final ESPN/USA Today Poll. Gone is two-time CACC Player of the Year, Kelly Killion, but the Tigers welcome back four starters from last year's squad, including 2007-08 CACC Rookie of the Year, Catherine Carr. Carr averaged a team-best 15.2 points per-game to go with 5.7 rebound per-game and was named the CACC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Also back is junior center Christine McCollum, who was a third team All-CACC pick after contributing 10.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.24 blocks per-game. The Tigers are ranked 16th according to the Division II Bulletin preseason poll.
Dominican was selected first on nine ballots to top the North Division poll with 72 points. The Chargers welcome back three starters from last season's NCAA Tournament squad, including junior forward Adele Laskowski, who was a second team All-CACC selection last season. She averaged 11.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per-game. Senior guard Althea Chambers was an All-CACC Honorable Mention selection in 2007-08 after posting team-best averages of 12.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per-game. The Chargers finished the season with a 22-9 record and a 14-3 mark in conference play.
Philadelphia was picked second in the South Division with 71 points and returns first team All-CACC selection, junior center Jessica Romano. Romano averaged 17.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per-game last season to rank second and third, respectively, in the CACC. The Lady Rams return five players who started at least 15 games a year ago. The remainder of the poll for the South Division is rounded out by Wilmington (62 points), USP (60), Goldey-Beacom (36), Georgian Court (29) and Chestnut Hill (15).
Bloomfield and Caldwell were separated by just one vote to finish second and third in the North Division poll with 62 and 61 points, respectively. Bloomfield picked up three first-place votes and Caldwell garnered one. Senior guard Ashley Crenshaw will return to help lead the Lady Deacons after posting 10.5 ppg last season. Bloomfield finished 15-14 overall last season and went 11-6 in conference play. Four players who started double-digit games return for Caldwell, including two-time All-CACC forward, Mackenzie Lynch. Lynch averaged 12.9 points and 9.4 boards per-game last season.
Nyack (37 points), Post (21) and Felician (20) round out the North Division poll.
The season kicks off on Friday, Nov. 14 as Georgian Court plays at Alaska Fairbanks. Twelve of the CACC's 13 teams will follow with games on Nov. 15.
