DOMINICAN'S LENT NAMED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Orangeburg, NY (11/24/08) Dominican College women's basketball player, Kaity Lent, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 23rd as was announced by the conference office today.
Orangeburg, NY (11/24/08) Dominican College women's basketball player, Kaity Lent, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 23rd as was announced by the conference office today.
Lent, a 5-4 freshman guard from Vineland, NJ, posted 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 71-57 victory over Bridgeport. She went 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Honorable Mention
Tiffany McDaniel, Bloomfield (So., C, 6-1, Colonia, NJ) - Tallied 17 points and 13 rebounds and shot 7-for-13 in a win over UMass-Lowell.
Jessica Romano, Philadelphia (Jr., C, 6-0, Horsham, PA) - Recorded 30 points and nine rebounds in a loss to West Chester. Shot 11-for-17 from the field.
Althea Chambers, Dominican (Sr., G, 5-7, Yonkers, NY ) - Tallied 21 points, six rebounds and five assists in a victory over Bridgeport.
Erin Chesnavich, USP (Jr., C, 6-2, Pittston, PA) - Averaged 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per-game in a 1-2 week for the Devils.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - Tiffany McDaniel put up her second double-double of the season in Saturday's win over UMass-Lowell. The Lady Deacons shot 58% from the field in the second half to hold off a Riverhawks' comeback.
Felician - Jessica Ford's 20 rebounds versus Concordia last Wednesday were the most by a Golden Falcon since Tysell Bozeman grabbed 21 against Green Mountain on Jan. 11, 2003. Audrey Lundy owns the school record of 22. Ford was making her first collegiate start.
Georgian Court - Saturday's victory over NYIT snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Lions, dating back to last season.
Philadelphia - Despite an outstanding career-high tying performance from Jess Romano, the Lady Rams fell to West Chester 69-60. The team will be back in action on Tuesday (11/25) vs. Shippensburg at 6 p.m.
USP - Junior Erin Chesnavich's nine blocked this week moved her into a tie for fourth-place on USP's all-time blocked shot list with 82 career blocks. Chesnavich also moved up to 15th on USP's all time rebound list with her seven boards vs. East Stroudsburg and now has 431 for her career. Senior Allison Weiss also climbed into fifth place on the Devils' all-time rebound list, pulling down 10 vs. Kutztown to give her 695 for her career. With 12 assists this week, Weiss also moved into 10th place on the Devils' all-time assist list with 214, passing two USP greats- former 4X All-CACC player Shelby Rance (208) and USP's only first Team All-American (NAIA) Kim Koschineg (206).
