Blauvelt, NY (4/28/07)  The Saint Vincent's College women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers, 21-4 this afternoon.

The Lady Bearcats jumped out to a big early lead and coasted the rest of the way, defeating Dominican College 21-4 on Senior Day.

In its final home contest of the year, SVC struck quickly, taking a 5-0 lead on a Sarah Peranteau goal just four minutes in.  The lead continued to grow, as Lauren Eller's third goal of the half, with 30 seconds left, gave the hosts a 14-0 advantage heading into the intermission.  Teammate Jenna Moon scored four goals over the first 30 minutes, while Peranteau scored twice in the first half.

Not to be outdone, the Lady Bearcat defense was stifling, allowing just four shots on goal over the first 30 minutes.

Cassie Alberding
and Megan Sekinger each scored to open the second half, pushing the SVC advantage to 16-0.

Dominican then scored three unanswered goals, two by Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) and one by Ashley Ordemann (Toms River, NJ), to make the score 16-3 with 20 minutes remaining, but SVC ended by scoring five of the next six goals, with two more coming from Eller, to pick up the big win.  Ordemann scored her second goal of the day, closing out the scoring for the Chargers, with 1:20 remaining in regulation.

Five Lady Bearcats scored at least twice on the day, with five goals coming from both Eller and Moon, who ends her season with 35 goals and her career with 125, good for second all-time in the program's history.

Four other seniors recorded multiple points in their final game in the green and gold, including Meredith Ruffing (2 goals, 1 assist), Kristen Blackburn (2g, 1a), Laura Fedor (1g, 2a), and Bethany Evans (1g, 1a).  Senior Candice Decker started the game in goal and posted a clean slate, stopping all nine shots sent her way, aided by a strong Lady Bearcat defensive performance led by two more seniors, Mary Kate Connoly and Danielle Walsh
