LADY CHARGERS LACROSSE DEFEATS LANCASTER BIBLE
COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/22/08) The Dominican
College women's lacrosse team set two programs record this
afternoon after defeating Lancaster Bible College, 18-1 at the DC
Lacrosse Field on Senior Day.
DC opened up the game with a 3-0 run on two goals scored by Sara Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) and one by Amanda Matos (Vernon, NY) in the first five minutes of the game. LBC got on the board with an unassisted goal by freshman Kirsten Gnagy (Summerset, PA) with 18:24 left in the first half.
Dominican then went on to net 15 unanswered goals en route to the 18-1 victory. This victory marks a new season wins record for DC women's lacrosse. It also sets a record for the most goals scored in a game for DC.
Matos and Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) led Dominican with three goals each in the win, with Matos adding a game leading two assists. Senior Shakia Reynolds (Bronx, NY), Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY), Kayla MacDonald (Stonington, CT) and Kiernan scored two goals a piece in the win.
Senior Meg Hesterberg (Windsor, CT), Jessica Bianchi (East Islip, NY), Amanda Miller (Copiage, NY) and Megan Bryant (White Plains, NY) all added a goal in the win.
LBC goalie Karen String had 16 saves in the loss, while DC goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) had seven saves in the win.
With the win DC improves to 2-10 overall, while LBC drops to
2-11.
