Lakewood, NJ A first-half offensive flurry by Dominican College was all it took over Georgian Court University, as the Chargers posted a 4-0 victory on the road in CACC play. The win moved Dominican to 5-4-1 in conference play, while the loss dropped the Lions to 2-7-1, officially ending their hopes for a postseason bid.
It didnt take long for the Chargers to make their mark. Marie LaMaida took a Katrina VanAlstyne pass and dribbled almost the length of the field, burying a shot passed GCU keeper Jamie Kaiser, to stake Dominican to a 1-0 lead just 1:31 into the game. Just over five minutes later, a cross by Shannon Harding found Michelle Cusano for Dominicans second goal, just 7:08 in.
At 21:03, VanAlstyne tallied her own marker when she headed a shot off of an Angela Correia corner, giving Dominican a 3-0 advantage. At 41:48, the Chargers put the finishing touches on the day, when Jen Ditzig took a Harding feed and planted another in the left corner of the net. Dominican posted 17 first half shots to GCUs 1.
Dominican held defensively, holding GCU to a total of three shots on goal for the contest. Ashley Narwick earned the win in goal, stopping one GCU shot in the first half. Sara Cordaro made another pair of saves in the second stanza. For the Lions, Kaiser turned back 13 shots.
Ironically, despite a 2-12-1 record entering the game, GCU was still in contention for a CACC playoff spot, four points behind Post University. The loss, however, was enough to break those chances.
The Lady Chargers will be in action again on Thursday as they host Pace University
