Molloy Lady Lions Rally To Defeat Lady Chargers, 2-1

Rockville Centre, NY (9/7/06)  The Molloy College Lady Lions soccer team rallied to defeat the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 2-1 this evening in a non-conference match up in Rockville Center, NY.

Dominican jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute of action when Angela Correia (Elizabeth, NJ) took a shot that was deflected by the goalie and was put in the right side of the net by sophomore Kelly Egan-Thorpe (New Paltz, NY).

Molloy tied the game in the 74th minute when Kate Galante headed the ball past the DC keeper off the free kick by Jennifer D'Albenzio.

The Lady Lions got the game winning goal at 76:52 when Joanna Taylor hit the right corner of the goal as Molloy took a 2-1 lead.

Dominican keeper Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY) had six saves in 90 minutes of play, while Molloy keeper Christina Aquilon had five saves.  Molloy out shot the Lady Chargers 12-9.

With the win, Molloy improves to 2-2 on the year, while Dominican falls to 1-3.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Goldey-Beacom College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at 12pm at the Dominican College Soccer Field.
