New Haven, CT (10/29/07) Holy Family has secured the top seed for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Tournament after emerging from the regular-season with a perfect 11-0 conference record. The tournament has expanded to include eight teams for the first time this season. The semifinals and finals will be hosted by Felician College at Tryon Field in Rutherford, NJ, on Thursday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 3. The conference champion will receive the CACC's automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament.

Holy Family clinched the top seed and the CACC regular-season championship with a 2-1 triumph over Philadelphia in each team's regular-season CACC finale on Thursday, Oct. 25. Both teams entered the match with perfect 10-0 conference records. The winning goal came from Callie Nagle, who scored her second goal of the game in the 80th minute of action. The Tigers are 11-7 overall this year.

Holy Family will entertain a Nyack team that enters the tournament with a 9-10 overall record to go with a 5-6 mark in the CACC. The Tigers defeated the Warriors, 3-0, on Oct. 13. The Tigers are led offensively by senior Kaitlin Gavaghan, who has registered 25 points (10 goals, five assists) this season to rank sixth in the conference.

Philadelphia, which is 10-1 in conference play and 12-5 overall, will host No. 7 Caldwell College in Tuesday's quarterfinal round. Caldwell earned a spot in the tournament with a 5-6 conference record and a 5-13 overall mark. Philadelphia upended the Cougars, 2-0, back on Sept. 1 in Caldwell's season-opener. The Lady Rams are the reigning conference tournament champions, having defeated Holy Family in a penalty-kick shootout last year.

Georgian Court went 9-2 in conference play to earn the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Post on Tuesday. The Lions are led by freshman Amy VanBlarcom, who ranks fourth in the CACC with 26 points and tied for third with 12 goals scored. The Eagles concluded the regular-season with a 5-5-1 conference record and a 5-12-1 overall mark. Georgian Court got past Post, 3-0, on Sept. 29.

No. 4 Wilmington University and No. 5 Dominican College will be the fourth quarterfinal match. Wilmington, behind CACC-leading scorer, senior Begum Malali, went 7-4 in conference play and 14-5-1 overall. Malali has tallied 56 points (25 goals, six assists) this year, 20 more than anyone else in the conference.

Dominican went 6-4-1 in conference play and 8-9-1 overall this season. The Chargers won five of their last six conference games to move up to the fifth spot in the standings. Dominican defeated Wilmington in their regular-season contest, 4-3, on Sept. 8.
