Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (4/5/16) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team lost an East Coast Conference (ECC) game to host, #12 Mercy College, 15-4, this afternoon in a game played at Mercy Field.
The Mavericks (8-2, 4-1 ECC) scored the first three goals of the game to go ahead with 8:58 left in the first quarter. Dominican got on the board as freshman David Arent (Huntington Beach, Calif.) netted the unassisted goal with under eight minutes to play. MC closed out the quarter on a 4-0 run to increase the lead to 7-1.
Mercy continued on their run with two more goals, but senior attacker Conor Reeves* (Tappan, N.Y.) broke the run with a goal off the pass from Kevin Mayer* (Wantagh, N..Y). The Mavericks ended the first half with a goal for a 10-2 lead at the break.
Junior midfielder Sean Driscoll (Stony Point, N.Y.) opened the third quarter with his first game goal, while MC would net the next three for a 13-3 lead at the end of three quarters.
Arent began the final frame with his second game goal, while MC tacked on two more scores for the final 15-4 score.
Goalie Joseph Fabiilli (Glen Head, N.Y.) made 10 saves in 45:00 in the net, while Carlos Villaman (Montgomery, N.Y.) had five saves in the last 15 minutes.
Arent finished the game with two goals.
Dominican falls to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in ECC play.
The Chargers return to action on Sunday afternoon as they travel to Farmingdale State.
