COMEBACK EFFORT FALLS SHORT IN LOSS TO EAGLES
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/28/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team had their comeback effort fall short to the Eagles of Post University in a CACC match up on O'Brien Field this afternoon.
After the loss, the Chargers fall to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Eagles improve to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the CACC.
Prior to today's contest, the Chargers held their annual Senior Day ceremony. The Chargers honored Seniors: Chad Keyser, Ryan Gonzalez, Nickolas Paletta, Rocco Albanese, Sean Cosgrove, Zachary Souza, Nate Melnick, and Joseph DeGregorio prior to the start of the game.
The game started off slow offensivley with the first goal of the game coming over five minutes into the first quarter. Kesyer tied the game three minutes later but then with 57 ticks left, Post regained the lead and took a 2-1 advantage into the second quarter.
The Eagles built a six goal lead by scoring six unanswered goals, five unanswered coming in the second quarter.
Evan Dupras ended the run with 2:28 left to go in the half and the Eagles held a 7-2 lead at the break.
Dominican came charging back as they continued a scoring run of their own and shutout the Eagles 3-0 in the third.
Back to back man up goals by DU's Steven Dupras and Chad Keyser tied the game at 7-7 as Dominican was on a six goal scoring run. The tying goal by Keyser was his third of the game and 100th point of his career.
Post's Will Brien scored back to back goals and later his third of the fourth quarter as the Eagles ended the game on a 5-0 run and finished off the 12-7 victory.
Keyser's hat trick led the way in scoring for the Chargers while Nicholas Cupelli scored twice. Evan Dupras and Steven Dupras each netted one goal. Evan Dupras picked up a team-high three assists while Sean Cosgrove added two assists and a team-high five groundballs.
DU goalkeeper Nicholas Creisher made 16 saves and picked up four groundballs but suffered the loss.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday when they visit St. Thomas Aquinas College.
