Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/4/25) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team battled with the Huskies of Bloomsburg University to a 1-1 draw this afternoon in the opening game of the 2025 season on O'Brien Field.
Both the Chargers and the Huskies each hold an overall record of 0-0-1.
Junior goalkeeper David Arteaga started in goal for the Chargers and made four saves in the game. Peter Punchello got the start in goal for the Huskies and made one save.
Junior midfielder Nichlas Thulin Kamfjord scored 17:37 into the first half to put the Chargers ahead 1-0. Oscar Chazalet picked up the assist on the goal.
The score remained 1-0 until the 71:46 mark when Caleb Sitler tied the game after taking a centering pass by Jake Pacacha who picked up the assist. The score would stay locked at one goal a piece the rest of the way.
The Huskies fired 12 shots in the second half and held the edge for the game 21-7. BU also held the edge in corner kicks 4-0.
Sam Blumberger led the Huskies in shots with five. Thulin and Eyob McFarland each finished with two shots for the Chargers.
The Chargers return to action Sunday for a road match up with non-conference rival St. Thomas Aquinas College at 11:00 AM.
