DOMINICAN DOWNS D'YOUVILLE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/23/26) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team won three straight sets after falling in the opening set to down the Saints of D'Youville University on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
The Chargers hand the Saints their third loss of the season as they fall to 0-3 overall while Dominican improves to 2-3 overall.
After a 25-22 loss, the Chargers bounced back and rallied for three straight wins to secure the 3-1 victory in four sets.
The Chargers won back to back sets by a score of 25-16 for the 2-1 advantage. Another strong start in the fourth set saw the Chargers move ahead of the Saints by six points. The Saints closed the gap down the stretch but despite the late push by the Saints DU never lost the lead and took the fourth set 25-22 and the match 3-1.
Phinehas Wiley, Ayden Shaw, and Jackson Shaw combined for 49 kills. Wiley had a team-high 19 kills while adding one service ace, two bloack assists, and five digs. Ayden Shaw finished with 18 kills and two service aces while Jackson Shaw picked up 12 kills, two block assists, and nine digs.
Tommaso Falchi had a team-high four block assists while recording seven kills. Seth Terry picked up a match-high 47 assists while Alejandro Miranda added a team-high 15 digs.
The Chargers hit the road next Wednesday when they visit LIU for a rematch with the Sharks at 6:00 PM.
