WILDCATS OUTLAST CHARGERS IN FIVE SETS
Amherst, N.Y. (2/20/26) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team opened their weekend road trip with a non-conference contest with the Wildcats of Daemen University.
The Wildcats edged the Chargers 3-2 in five sets to improve to 5-7 overall while DU falls to 3-10 overall.
Daemen opened the match with a 25-20 victory in the opening set. Dominican bounced back in the second set with a 25-23 win after trailing the Wildcats early. The Third set saw the Chargers jump out to a quick 10-2 lead, but the used a 14-5 run to take the lead and later edged the Chargers 28-26 for a 2-1 advantage.
Dominican forced a fifth set after taking an early lead in the fourth and didn't look back on their way to the 25-22 win to tie the match at 2-2.
In the fifth set, Domincan led 8-5 but the Wildcats went on an 11-6 run to finish off the set 16-14 and take the match 3-2.
The Chargers were led by Ayden Shaw and Jackson Shaw who combined for 30 kills and 36 points scored. Ayden Shaw picked up a team-high two service aces while adding 14 digs. Jackson Shaw picked up a team-high six total blocks (one solo and five block assist) while recording five digs.
Darius Brown picked up 12.5 points on 10 kills, three block assists, and one service ace. Seth Terry finished with a match-high 40 assists while Alejandro Miranda picked up 18 digs also a match-high.
Hunter Paio added five total blocks while Tommaso Falchi recorded four block assists.
The Charger wrap up their road trip tomorrow afternoon when they visit D'Youville University to take on the Saints at 12:00 PM.
