LADY CHARGERS CHARGE PAST PURPLE KNIGHTS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/9/25) The #24 Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to 10 straight games and their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) streak to 19 games after defeating the visiting Purple Knights from the University of Bridgeport, 22-2, this afternoon in conference action played on O'Brien Field.
With the game the Lady Chargers improve to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in CACC play.
The game was tied at 1-1 early in the first quarter when the Lady Charger offense went on to score 21 straight goals to make the score 21-1 with 10:01 left in the fourth quarter. Following a UB score, freshman Gianna Longobucco recorded her first collegiate goal off the pass from Ellie Brouwer for the final 22-2 DUNY victory.
Grace DeStasio had six goals, one assist and five draw controls, while Erica Ortiz also scored six goals, a team best nine draw controls and picked up her 100th career ground ball.
CACC Co-Player of the Week, Madelyn Grella, recorded five goals and six assists and Sydney Strohmayer reached the 100 goal milestone with two game goals.
Sophomore Alexa Preston, freshman Rylie McGhan and Longobucco had the other DUNY scores.
CACC Goalkeeper of the Week, Kristinamarie Kaszovitz, spent the first 27:44 in the net, while Emma Crater made one save 16:34 and Kathryn Ehrlinger had one save in the final 15:42.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to CACC foe, Chestnut Hill College.
