#1 SEED LADY CHARGERS PUNCH TICKET TO CACC FINALS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/30/26) The #1 seed Dominican University New York Lady Chargers defeated the #4 seed Georgian Court University this afternoon in the CACC Semifinals played on O'Brien Field.
The Lady Chargers, #19 in the IWLCA and #4 in the NCAA DII East Region, improve to 14-3 overall after the 11-7 victory. The Lions fall to 10-9 on the season.
Dominican jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with five unanswered goals in the first quarter. Two goals by the Lions opened the scoring in the second quarter, but the Lady Chargers scored the next three goals to take an 8-2 lead into halftime.
GCU scored the first two goals of the third quarter to cut the DU lead to 8-4. Both teams traded goals at the end of the third quarter and Dominican led 9-5 by the start of the fourth quarter.
The Lions cut the DU lead to three goals twice in the fourth quarter but Doiminican answered both goals. Madison Mileti capped off a five goal game with 10:10 remaining and the score would stay at 11-7 as the Lady Chargers punched their ticket into the CACC Finals.
Mileti led all scorers with five goals and three assists for eight points. Mileti also added four draw controls.
Addison Sullivan scored twice, both in the first quarter. Leila Paz scored one goal and assisted on another. Paz picked up four groundballs and three draw controls.
Rylie McGhan and Madelyn Grella each scored once. Kate Frae scored one goal and added two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Alexa Preston picked up three groundballs while Jenna Rigo picked up team-highs in groundballs and caused turnover with six each.
Goalkeeper Daniela Parisi made six saves and earned her 14th win in net on the season.
The Lions were led by Caitlin Petrellese who scored four goals and assisted on one goal. Gabrielle Battle scored twice while Erynn Richey scored once.
Nena Menard led the team in draw controls with seven and picked up two groundballs. GCU goalkeeper Natalie Moradian made 12 saves but suffered the loss.
Next up for the Lady Chargers will be the CACC Finals this Saturday, May 2nd. Dominican will take on the #3 seed Wilmington University at 2:00 PM. The game will be hosted by Wilmington University.
