#3 SEED WILDCATS TOP #1 SEED LADY CHARGERS IN CACC FINALS
Newark, Del. (5/2/26) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team fell in the CACC Tournament Championship game to Wilmington University this afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.
The Lady Chargers entered today's CACC Finals as the CACC's #1 seed as well as #19 in IWLCA and #4 in the NCAA DII East Region. The Wildcats, #3 in the CACC and #5 in the NCAA DII East Region, captures their first CACC Women's Lacrosse Championship with the 13-9 victory.
The Wildcats hand the Lady Chargers their first CACC loss since 2023 as DU's bid for a fourth straight CACC Tournament Championship falls just short.
Dominican now holds a record of 14-4 on the season while the Wildcats stand at 18-2.
A tight first half saw the Wildcats hold their largest lead of the half which was three goals. Madison Mileti scored with 18 ticks left in the half to cut the deficit to 7-5 with her third goal of the opening half.
Mileti scored the next two goals to open the third quarter and tied the game at 7-7.
Back to back WILMU goals put the Wildcats ahead by muliple goals again before Mileti netted her sixth of the game to bring the score to 9-8 for the start of the fourth quarter.
Rylie McGhan scored the first goal of the final frame which knotted the score at 9-9.
Wilmington followed with four unanswered goals by four different goal scorers en route to the 13-9 victory and the CACC Tournament Championship.
Mileti led all scorers with six goals while adding one assist, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Alexa Preston, Leila Paz, and McGhan rounded out the goals for the Lady Chargers. Emily Murtha picked up two groundballs and caused two turnovers.
Goalkeeper Daniela Parisi suffered the loss but made five saves and picked up two groundballs.
Kirra Crowley and Leah Rycroft combined for seven goals while Ella Royer scored two goals and picked up an assist for Wilmington. Anastasia Giannoulis and Tristan Holdsworth each added two goals.
Giannoulis dished out three assists while Rycroft added two assists. Goalkeeper Allison Schiavone made seven saves in the win.
The Lady Chargers will now look to the NCAA DII selection show which will be held tomorrow May 3rd at 8:30 PM on NCAA.com.
