#5 LADY CHARGERS FALL TO #4 WILDCATS IN EAST REGION QUARTERFINALS
Garden City, N.Y. (5/7/26) The #5 seed Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team fell to the #4 seed Wilmington University Wildcats in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA DII East Region Tournament this afternoon hosted by Adelphi University.
In the CACC Finals rematch, the Wildcats defeated the Lady Chargers by a score of 15-11 to secure their spot in the regional semifinals.
Wilmington scored the first two goals of the game before Dominican got on the board with goals by Madison Mileti and Leila Paz.
Wilmington started the second quarter with a 3-2 lead before Alexa Preston knotted the score at 3-3.
The Wildcats used a four goal run to jump out to a 7-3 lead before Preston scored her second of the quarter and WILMU took a 7-4 lead into halftime.
Both teams traded goals to open the third quarter, but the Lady Chargers finished the quarter strong with three unanswered goals, two by Rylie McGhan and one by Mileti, to send the game into the final quarter tied 9-9.
The Wildcats scored three unanswered goals to open the fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Chargers 6-2 in the final frame on their way to the 15-11 victory.
Mileti led the Lady Chargers in goals with five while adding two assists. Mileti also picked up a team-high seven draw controls.
Preston, Paz, and McGhan each finished with two goals. Emily Murtha picked up five draw controls. Jenna Rigo added one assist while causing one turnover and picked up three groundballs including the 200th groundball of her career.
Goalkeeper Daniela Parisi made eight saves and picked up two groundballs but suffered the loss.
The Lady Chargers finish the 2026 season with an overall record of 14-5.
