WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL STREAK SNAPPED BY CALDWELL COUGARS

Caldwell, NJ (10/14/10) The Lady Chargers of Dominican College had a seven game winning streak snapped by host Caldwell College after losing 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-27, 18-25) this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match held at the George R. Newman Center.

Caldwell, NJ (10/14/10)  The  Lady Chargers of Dominican College had a seven game winning streak snapped by host Caldwell College after losing 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-27, 18-25) this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match held at the George R. Newman Center.

In the first set, the Lady Chargers held a 24-17 advantage when the Cougars put together a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 24-23.  A Cougar attack error gave DC the 25-23 set win.  In set two, Caldwell had a 21-18 lead but the Lady Chargers rallied to cut the lead to 24-23.  However a Cougar kill gave CC the 25-23 win and tie the match 1-1.

Trailing 24-21 in set three, Dominican once again rallied to tie the set at 24-24 with three straight points.  After the teams exchanged points, a DC service error and a Caldwell kill gave the Cougars a 27-25 set win and 2-1 match lead.

Dominican built up a 15-12 lead in the fourth set when the Cougars went on a 13-0 tear to take a 23-15 lead.  The Lady Chargers halted the run with three straight points to make the score 23-18, but a service error and an ace gave Caldwell the 25-18 win and 3-1 match victory.

CACC Player of the Week, Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led all attackers with 17 kills in the match.  Fellow sophomore Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) and senior Kerianne Dudley (Nanuet, NY) each had eight kills on the night, while Catherine Giordano (Stony Point, NY) tallied seven kills in the loss.  Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) had 38 assists on the night, while libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) recorded 23 defensive digs.

Following the loss Dominican now stands at 12-14 overall and 9-4 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Wilmington University on Coach Baxter Court at 12:00pm.
