LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL RALLY TO DEFEAT MOLLOY COLLEGE

(9/13/12) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Molloy College Lions, 3-2, this evening in a non-conference match played Quealy Gymnasium. With the win, Dominican improves to 6-5 overall, while Molloy falls to 1-3 on the season.

With the win, Dominican improves to 6-5 overall, while Molloy falls to 1-3 on the season.
The Lions took set one 25-22, but the Lady Chargers came back to take set two, 25-22. Tied at 14-all, the Lady Chargers went on a 7-5 run to pull ahead 21-19 and a kill from outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, N.Y.) gave Dominican the 25-22 victory.
Molloy took a 2-1 match lead with a 25-21 set three win and led 8-3 in the fourth set when Dominican rallied witha 6-1 run to tie the set at 9-9. From there, DC outscored the Lions, 6-1 over the next seven points to go ahead 14-10. An 8-3 run made the score 22-13 and the Lady Chargers went on to the 25-15 win and tie the match at 2-2.
In the decisive fifth set, Molloy jumped out to an 11-6 advantage but Dominican answered back and later tied the set at 13-13. Tied at 14-all, setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, Calif.) recorded her ninth kill of the match and a Lion attack error gave Dominican the 16-14 win and 3-2 match victory.
Fiorvanti led the Lady Chargers with 12 kills.
Ranger finished with nine kills, a match leading 40 assists and 13 digs.
Libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, Texas) had a night best 28 defensive digs.
Freshman Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) added seven kills and 12 digs.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Southern Connecticut State University at 11am on Coach Baxter Court.
