Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/17/12) The visiting Golden Knights from the College of Saint Rose down the Dominican College women's volleyball team, 3-0, this evening in a non-conference match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 6-7 on the season.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/17/12) The visiting Golden Knights from the College of Saint Rose down the Dominican College women's volleyball team, 3-0, this evening in a non-conference match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 6-7 on the season.
The first set was tied at 6-6 when Saint Rose went on a 10-2 tear to go up 16-8 and didn't look back en route to the 25-20 win.
With the score tied at 9-all in set two, the Golden Knights once again went on a run, this time outscoring the Lady Chargers 9-2 over the next 11 eleven points to take an 18-11 advantage. Trailing 19-13, Dominican went on a 8-2 run to tie the score at 21-21 but three Saint Rose kills and an attack error gave the team a 25-21 win and 2-0 match lead.
The Golden Knights jumped out to a 12-5 lead in set three, but DC came charging back with seven unanswered points to tie the score at 12-12. A 9-3 run by Saint Rose put them back ahead 21-15 and they went on to the 25-19 win and 3-0 match victory.
Freshman Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) led the Lady Chargers with 11 kills.
Senior Courtney Heard (Ventura, Calif.) tallied seven kills.
Setter Whitney Ranger* (Ventura, Calif.) had 22 assists, while libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, Texas) had nine defensive digs.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday evening as they host, Nyack College, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match to be played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
